Clean your Hardwood Floors once every week or two depending on the amount of traffic on your Hardwood Floors.
Use protective walk off mats at all exterior entrances as well as other high traffic areas such as in front of refrigerators, sinks, stoves and ovens. Clean mats frequently with vacuum or shake them out. Grit is your Floor finishes worst enemy.
You may want to consider using Area Rugs underneath Dining room Tables due to Salt being very abrasive.
Mop with Bona Kemi Hardwood Floor Cleaner.
Sweep with a Dust Mop which can be found in almost any Grocery/ Department Store.
To remove scuff marks that do not come up with regular cleaning try dampening a dry terry cloth towel with mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, or nail polish remover. Don't pour the solvent directly on the floor, this may cause the Polyurethane to cloud up dull the finish.
Keep pet claws well maintained and watch for doggy and kitty accidents. Clean them up immediately!
Install floor glides on frequently moved furniture such as dining room chairs, bar stools etc.
Place furniture on coasters underneath all heavy furniture such as sofas & love seats.
Consider the addition of a humidistat to your HVAC system to regulate humidity. This will add in the prevention of seasonal changes in your wood floor as well as other wood products such as cabinets, trim molding and doors.
